Meet kō — a convertible shelf & toddler wardrobe, designed with heart, inspired by our daughter, and made to last through every stage.

kō is part of our ‘FUN’ctional Spaces collection — a line of thoughtfully designed furniture that adapts with your family’s changing needs. kō is more than a shelf. It’s a toddler wardrobe, a display for toys, and a minimalist piece that lives well beyond the nursery years. It’s a piece of your story. We hope kō brings warmth, joy, and long-lasting purpose to your home — just as it has to ours.

• Rounded corners for added safety
• Adjustable shelving
• Convertible to a toddler wardrobe with hanging rods at two levels
• 1 x hanging knob 
• Suitable to display large building block sets (i.e. Grimm’s, Raduga Grez), meticulously designed for the depth and height of these sets
• Made with 15mm AA grade Birch Plywood, sanded and sealed with non-toxic matte coating (adheres to ASTM F963-17 standards). Smooth to touch, the finishing also provides resistance against moisture.
• As this is a handcrafted item, variations in wood grain and/or minor imperfections is to be expected.
• CARE: Lightly wipe with damp cloth.

Background

Our daughter Bea turns one in May. We wanted to create something that honored that milestone — and gift to her a piece that would grow with her.

Inspired by a birthday trip to Japan to celebrate Bea’s first year - the name kō also carries a soft nod to Japanese design sensibilities: calm, thoughtful, minimal yet warm — just like our home, and just like the memories we’re building as a family. 

In Japanese, kō can take many forms depending on the kanji:

成長 — to grow

光 — light

Both meanings felt right.

Because children grow — beautifully, quickly, and all at once.

And they bring light into every corner of our lives.

We chose to write it in small caps — kō — as a quiet symbol of who this was made for: the little ones. The ones just beginning. It reflects the heart of this creation: our daughter Bea.

 We hope you’ll love kō as much as we do — and that kō will journey with your family from the very beginning.
